Guion Creek Elementary School's theme for the 2026-2027 school year is: Lights, Camera, Learn! Spotlight on Learning & Growing.
Principal Gardner shared, "This year, we are putting a Spotlight on Learning and Growing!
Every day is an opportunity for our scholars to shine, and every learning experience moves every scholar one step closer to success. Whether scholars are celebrating academic growth, building positive relationships, or reaching personal goals, we want every scholar to know they have an important role in our school community. Together, we are creating classrooms where learning takes center stage and every scholar is encouraged, challenged, and celebrated.
We are also reintroducing the importance of being a Guion Gator. Our goal is to build school pride, foster a strong sense of belonging, and remind every scholar that they play an important role in making our school community a great place to learn and grow. We are Gators!"
Guion Gators:
G – Give your best each day.
A – Act safely and responsibly.
T – Treat everyone with kindness.
O – Own your learning.
R – Reach for excellence and set goals.

The Board recently had the privilege of presenting Diamond Ivey with the Superintendent's Above & Beyond Award.
Lincoln Middle School's Principal, Dr. Monte Tapplar, shared, " We would like to recognize Diamond Ivey as a recipient of the Above and Beyond Award in recognition of her exceptional commitment to her students, her team, and Lincoln Middle School.
Ms. Ivey consistently goes above and beyond expectations of her current role as a classroom teacher and co-8th grade team leader. She does a wonderful job helping students transition between middle school and high school. Over the summer, she dedicated time to supporting all middle school outgoing 8th graders, now incoming freshmen, for their Pike High School orientation! In addition, she took the initiative to partner with Pike High School staff to develop a special 9th grade panel in which freshmen visited Lincoln M.S. to speak with our 8th grade students about the high school experience!
Ms. Ivey has demonstrated a strong commitment to expanding post-secondary opportunities for students. She collaborated with other staff members to establish a Pre-Collegiate Club, providing students with opportunities to learn about college, explore different collegiate possibilities, and begin thinking about their futures beyond middle school. Such leadership reflects her belief that students should be encouraged to dream, explore, and see themselves as capable of pursuing a variety of post-secondary opportunities.
Ms. Ivey’s willingness to invest her time, energy, and creativity in both her colleagues and students exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond. She leads by example, continually looks for ways to improve the student experience, and works collaboratively to create opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom. Ms. Ivey demonstrates leadership, initiative, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for students."

It can also help your family qualify for valuable benefits like college exam fee waivers and scholarships.
