Please join us in congratulating Pierson Vaughn on earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Pierson is a member of Troop 123 in the Fall Creek District.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Pierson led a team of volunteers in improving and remodeling the kitchen used by the children’s ministry at his church. The project resulted in a more functional, welcoming space for the children and families who use it.

According to the organization, Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of Scouting America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process.

Snacks Crossing Elementary School recently hosted a school-wide Writing Extravaganza. Principal Jones shared that the goal was to celebrate students as authors and foster a love of writing.

Students and staff responded to the opportunity enthusiastically, even dressing for the occasion, which allowed them to take turns sitting in the Author's Chair and sharing their writing with their classmates and students from partner classes.

The Indianapolis Colts recently hosted our Pike High School Unified Flag Football Team for a game against Arsenal Tech on the Colts Complex Practice Field. The team had the opportunity to interact with several Colts players and cheerleaders. While the Colts cheerleaders practiced with our Pike High School cheerleaders for their halftime performance, several Colts players stood on the sidelines acting as unofficial coaches and supporters for the UFF teams. At one point, our team even engaged the players in an extremely competitive dance battle.

Thank you to the Indianapolis Colts and everyone involved for providing such an amazing opportunity for our athletes.

Last weekend, several Pike RoboDevil robotics team students went to the Purdue FIRST Forum in West Lafayette, a student-run conference for high school students and team mentors.

Besides the conference sessions, students toured the general Purdue campus areas, Purdue Polytechnic SMART Manufacturing labs, and the Electrical & Computer Engineering areas on campus.

One of our Pike students, Aissatou Diallo, presented with a group on "Sustaining FIRST Robotics Competition Teams", offering insights on financial stability, leadership development, and team culture.

State Mandated Safety Exercise

This month, all MSD of Pike Township schools will conduct a mandated safety exercise. The drill, which Indiana state law requires, will allow us to practice our lockdown procedures in the case of an intruder or other threat. It will not consist of any simulations or loud noises.

GCMS Celebrates Pike Excellence in a Powerful Way

Guion Creek Middle School is using its bulletin boards to show students what is possible by highlighting Pike Excellence. This year, the school's theme is "We Grow Academic Excellence."

This week's featured bulletin board:

Empathy
David Gadis — Class of 1980

"Prioritize empathy alongside technical expertise."

David was the first Pike athlete to become an Indiana Hall of Famer. After his athletic career, he continued making an impact through community activism before taking on leadership of a water company whose mission is to eliminate lead exposure from water systems in communities. His career demonstrates that true leadership requires both expertise and a commitment to people.

Background:

GCMS librarian Valerie Dennis shared, "I wanted to use our community space to highlight that Pike has an extended history of excellence.

As I worked on this project, I realized that although each person has taken a different path, their stories create a larger conversation about the qualities that help people make an impact. Together, these individuals remind our students that success can look many different ways—and that their own stories are still being written.

I hope our students see more than just successful Pike graduates and community members on these boards. I hope they see examples of people who faced challenges, embraced who they are, cared for others, and found their own paths.

Together, these stories share a message with our students: Be curious. Be compassionate. Celebrate differences. Create belonging. Be yourself. Believe in yourself. Keep going."

We absolutely love this initiative and look forward to sharing each of their wonderful displays throughout the coming weeks.

A quick and important reminder for our Pike families!

While all students currently receive free meals, completing the Household Income Form is still essential.

This form does so much more than help ensure continued meal benefits—it directly impacts our ability to secure funding for programs that benefit all students across the district, from discounted internet access in our schools to funding that directly supports learning.

It can also help your family qualify for valuable benefits like college exam waivers and scholarships.

Help us support all of our students; please complete your Household Income Form today:
