Grant Programs

Title I
Title I is the largest single program of federal aid for elementary and secondary education.  The MSD of Pike Township receives Title I funding to provide extra academic support and enriching learning opportunities for children to meet and exceed state and local academic standards.  Some of those supports and services include: professional development for teachers, parent meetings, before/after school tutoring, specialized teachers, instructional coaches, extended time opportunities (i.e. Summer Stretch), literacy materials, and equipment and technology.

 

Title II
The purpose of Title II is to provide supplemental activities that strengthen the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders which includes:

  • Increase student achievement consistent with the challenging state academic standards;
  • Improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders;
  • Increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and
  • Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.

Title III

Title III is a federal grant that provides additional funding to schools to support students who are learning English. The purpose of Title III is to help English Learners develop English language skills, succeed academically in all subject areas, and meet the same academic standards as their peers. Schools use Title III funds to provide supplemental instruction, specialized materials, family engagement opportunities, and professional development for educators. These services are designed to support—not replace—core classroom instruction and to ensure that English Learners and their families receive the resources needed to thrive in school.

21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant
The 21st Century After-School Learning Center grant is a competitive grant opportunity for which Pike Township has been awarded to fund after-school programs and summer for students who attend Eastbrook, Snacks Crossing, and Deer Run Elementary Schools. Three additional afterschool sites will begin in fall 2022 at Central and Guion Creek Elementary Schools and Pike High School. The 21st CCLC after-school program sites provide tutoring, homework help, character development, and other enrichment opportunities in science, technology, engineering, performing arts, and math (STEAM). Pike High School offers additional opportunities to help prepare students for college and careers after graduation. McKinney-Vento
The McKinney-Vento Grant supports educational agencies ensure that each child in a homeless situation has equal access to public education. Transportation, school uniforms, food pantry, and other services are supported through the McKinney-Vento Grant. Tonya Monnier, District Social Worker serves as the Pike Township McKinney-Vento Liaison.  If you need access to resources or information about McKinney Vento, please contact Mrs. Tonya Monnier or contact your school directly to speak to an assigned Social Worker.
