Turhania Fitts: Above and Beyond Award Winner

On Thursday, January 12th, our Board had the privilege of presenting Mrs. Turhania Fitts, a Resource Teacher at Guion Creek Elementary School, with the Superintendent’s Above & Beyond Award.

In prepared remarks, Mr. Kroon, who serves as Guion Creek Elementary School’s assistant principal, shared:

“Ms. Fitts takes the initiative to get things done, builds relationships with students, their families, and members of our team, and is always willing to do anything that will benefit students. With her ‘do-what-it-takes’ attitude, she truly makes a difference at Guion Creek. Ms. Fitts has high expectations of herself and her students and they respond beautifully. She has organized activities such as schoolwide recycling, to help them see how they can have an impact on the community around them. Ms. Fitts is always clear about her expectations and ready to challenge her students while providing them with the support they need to be successful. And, they always rise to the occasion! We’re delighted to call her our colleague at Guion Creek Elementary School. She is unapologetically dedicated to the students and stakeholders of Pike Township. Ms. Fitts is a wonderful representative of our team, and very deserving of the Above and Beyond Award.”
