The Public meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at the Administrative Services Center, 6901 Zionsville Road, and begin at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Interim Superintendent of Schools and his Cabinet develop each meeting's agenda prior to the meeting. Board members receive copies of agendas and supporting materials at least five days prior to the meeting, allowing time for them to prepare.
The agenda is posted in our schools and on our website on the Tuesday prior to each meeting. Copies are also made available at the meeting.
Business meetings are held in public and visitors are welcome. Audience members may address the Board regarding agenda items during Action Items. Audience members may address the Board about a matter not on the agenda during For the Good of the Cause.
Executive Sessions are closed to the public. The law allows the Board to meet in closed sessions for such reasons as legal action, real estate transactions and specific personnel matters. Action can only be taken during business meetings.
If issues raised during Action Items require answers to questions, additional information or further discussion, the Board may refer the matter to the Interim Superintendent of Schools and/or defer action to a later meeting.
Whenever possible, the public is encouraged to seek information or action first from the teacher or principal. Communicating directly will, in most cases, clear up misunderstandings. Issues are best resolved at the school level.
