Dr. Larry D. Young, Jr. has a professional career in the MSD of Pike Township spanning 24-years. During this time, he has served in multiple positions: teacher, assistant principal, principal, Director of Student and Community Services, Director of Elementary Education, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, Assistant Superintendent of Operations, and most recently Interim Superintendent.
Dr. Young’s recent responsibilities, prior to his appointment as Interim Superintendent, included overseeing the development and implementation of the district-wide strategic plan, facilitating the development of Board policies and administrative guidelines, overseeing the district’s response to COVID-19, oversight of athletics K-12, wellness, facilitating the District Leadership Academy, and supervising multiple directors and departments.
Dr. Young is a 1992 graduate of Pike High School. He and his wife reside in Pike Township and their two sons attend MSD of Pike Township schools. Dr. Young graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). His Master of Education and Principal Licensure were completed at Indiana Wesleyan University. Finally, Dr. Young graduated from Purdue University, in West Lafayette, with his Doctorate of Philosophy.
