Listed below are some ways that parents of high school students can remain involved in their child’s academic progress.
- Use the online Skyward program to monitor your child’s grades. If you do not have access information or a password please contact the guidance offices.
- Keep a copy of your child’s schedule so that you have quick access to course information and teacher names. Call your child’s counselor or check Skyward to obtain your child’s class schedule.
- Keep a teacher phone list and call or email teachers with questions or concerns. You may have to leave your name and message on voice mail for a return call.
-
Know who your child's guidance counselor is as well as know their contact information.
-
Know when the grading periods end to monitor your child’s progress.
-
Attend Back to School Nights and Parent Conference days to meet with teachers.
-
Encourage use of a planner to organize assignments and manage time.
-
Obtain information for extra-help and tutoring from your child’s teacher.
-
If possible, provide opportunities for your child to make up missed credits before the start of their junior year. A list of night school, online classes and other credit retrieval opportunities is available from your child’s counselor.
