PARENT INFORMATION MEETING FOR FAMILIES INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT THE HIGH ABILITY PROGRAM
When: February 2nd ~ 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Where: NEW AUGUSTA NORTH CAFETERIA
On Thursday, February 2nd, a meeting will be held in the New Augusta North Cafeteria to inform parents of current K-7 students about Pike’s High Ability Program. The one hour meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and provide a brief overview of the K-12 program, criteria for testing consideration and staff will be present to answer questions. Administrators and teachers will be represented from some of Pike’s magnet school sites: Guion Creek Elementary, Eagle Creek Elementary, Fishback Creek Public Academy, Lincoln Middle School, Guion Creek Middle School, and New Augusta North Middle School.
Assessment data will determine identification of students currently in grades K-7 for the High Ability program. The identification process begins in the fall using universal screening tools (i.e. NWEA, CogAT). Final testing (February) and selection will take place in the spring. Parents will be notified by letter as to whether their child is invited into the program by the end of May.
Students who are invited for final round testing and score high enough to be placed in the program are automatically enrolled in the appropriate school.
