Pike Safe Trick or Treat

Pike High School's wonderful Safe-Trick-or-Treat event is right around the corner! The annual event is organized by Business Professionals of America, and features the clubs and organizations of Pike High School.

Pike Homecoming Events

Are your ready for Homecoming 2017? Join us for our weeklong celebration starting on Monday, September 11th with Superhero vs Disney Day and concluding with our football game on September 15th.

STEAM Enrichment Programs for Elementary and Middle

The MSD of Pike Township will offer enrichment classes for students at the elementary and middle school level. Interested students will be charged a fee to participate. Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided. Classes will take place Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. –2:30 p.m. between June 12 and June 30. All Enrichment classes will take place at Pike High School. Please review the available options for week #1, #2 or #3; complete the attached enrollment form; and submit with the appropriate payment to your child’s school as soon as possible but no later than May 12. Application deadline is end of school day on May 12, 2017.  Courses without the minimum number of participants (20 students) will not be offered and a refund will be provided.  Enrollment is first come first serve so turn in your enrollment application to your child’s school office as soon as possible! Enrollment is limited!

If you are a Pike Township resident with a child who will be starting Kindergarten next school year, please join us for Kindergarten Round Up this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

ElevatED is building a regional reputation as a leading education conference and this summer will again exceed all expectations!

Our high school has a 94% graduation rate which exceeds the 89% average in our state. Pike High School has been named one of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” by The Washington Post in 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016. Newsweek has recognized Pike High School as one of “America’s Best High Schools” for the past two years.

The National Student Clearing House finds that over 60% of Pike students are currently enrolled in college compared to the national average of 57% and our high school continues to score above the national average for ACT composite score by race/ethnicity.

We have celebrated a record five Gates Millennium Scholars in the past seven years. With over 250 course offerings and more that 50 AP and IB courses, Pike far exceeds what’s available at local private and parochial school. Quite simply, we are #PikeProud!

Realizing Your Dream Scholarship Application Now Being Accepted

The Metropolitan School District of Pike Township “Realizing Your Dream Scholarship” Application Deadline is fast approaching.  All applications must be completed and returned to Evelyn Gearries, Assistant Principal – Pike Freshman Center no later than 2:30 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 for consideration. Mrs. Gearries will forward all applications to the office of the Superintendent. It is imperative to complete all categories listed on the application. Omission of information in any area will disqualify your application.

 

Girls’ Basketball Heads to State

Our Lady Red Devils basketball team made history again this weekend by defeating Columbus North on Saturday to capture the Semi-State title.  Now it’s on to the State Championship game versus the 27-2 Homestead Lady Spartans from Fort Wayne. Tickets for Saturday’s 8:15pm game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse are $15 and are on sale in our high school athletic office. Children 2 and under are free and handicap accessible tickets are available.

Pike Township Counseling Program Survey

Pike is conducting a comprehensive study of our counseling program beginning with an analysis of our current counseling services to determine the strengths, challenges,  and how we may enhance our services. To assist us in this endeavor we need your anonymous feedback. 

 

Pike Offers Summer Sport Camps

Pike Summer Sport Camps are an excellent opportunity for your child to develop and maintain fitness while improving sports skills and techniques.  Pike Summer Sport Camps will be offered this summer between the dates of June 5th thru July 13th.  Please consult the enclosed calendar to be sure when your camp is offered.

Each sport camp will be conducted by Varsity Coaches from Pike High School.  The Varsity Coach and staff will provide expert instruction which will improve your child’s overall fitness and specific skill levels for future participation on a Pike school team.

Dates and times for each camp are set to maximize the opportunity for every child’s participation. If your child is enrolling in more than one sport, the registration form may be copied. 

Red Cross Lifeguard Class

We are excited to offer you American Red Cross Lifeguarding Blended Learning. Blended learning combines online learning with on-site skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. Please plan to complete the initial online lessons of your training at least two days prior to your first on-site skills session, which is scheduled for September 29th at our Pike Aquatic Center.

Come by and visit your students school for a Ice Cream Social and make the most of back-to-school night. It's a valuable opportunity to learn important information about your child's classroom experience. See the dates and times below for your students school.

Girls’ Basketball Semi-State PRE-SALE tickets

Our district has been allotted a limited number of floor level tickets for Saturday’s Girls’ semi-state basketball game in Richmond, Indiana.  The tickets can only be purchased pre-sale Thursday from 6:00am to 3:00pm and on Friday starting at 8am and ending at 7:30pm.  For more information or to set up an appointment, please call or email Kendra Champion-Mcaloon, Assistant Athletic Director at kchampio@pike.k12.in.us or 317-387-2659.

United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants

The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are two of the six performing ensembles within The United States Air Force Band, the premier musical organization of the U.S. Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., The U.S. Air Force Band honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.

2018-19 and 2019-20 School Calendars' Survey

The MSD of Pike Township is preparing the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school calendars. Two years ago, Pike aligned its school calendars with neighboring school districts by transitioning to a more balanced calendar design.  The proposed calendars model this same design.  As such, we now refer to the alternate school calendar (continuous) as the “Balanced” calendar.  Pike is interested in your feedback to these DRAFT school calendars. Please review each DRAFT calendar and provide your feedback by responding to the survey questions by February 10, 2017.

Kam’Ron Redding, a Pike High School senior passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon as a result of a car accident.

Pike Red Zone Food Pantry

The Pike Red Zone Food Pantry is open to families whose children attend any of the Pike Township schools and are in need of additional dietary staples. The Food Pantry has its food distribution from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Pike Freshman Center on the 2nd Monday of the month or by appointment.  Families can contact their building Social Worker to arrange a time during the week.

School Menus On Your Device With Nutrislice

With an eye toward healthier school meals, Pike Township Schools is making it easier for parents to learn the nutritional value of food eaten at school.

Pike Township now uses Nutrislice, an online menu featuring nutrition and carbohydrate information for every item served in school cafeterias. Nutrislice menus may be viewed online or on a tablet or smartphone by using the Nutrislice app.

By using Nutrislice, parents easily view information about what is on the school menu for breakfast and lunch each day. They can also see an image and a description of food items, as well as nutrition and carbohydrate information.

Pike Youth Sports Community Service Program

Volunteers are important to the success of every youth sports program.  That is why Pike Youth Sports is looking for dedicated adults and high school students who would like to serve their community.  The Pike Youth Sports Community Service Program provides volunteers with opportunities to assist with events that involve the Pike Youth Basketball League:  Girls Division and Boys Division, the Pike Youth Football League, the Jr. Red Devils travel football team and the Pike Township Youth Cheer Program.

Catch on to Fitness Camp & Clinic

Our district will have the privilege of hosting Tamika Catching's Catch on to Fitness Camp & Parent Wellness Clinic again this year. The clinic, which is open to boys and girls ages 7-14, will be held at Pike High School on Saturday, November 5, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Camp admission is free with a 10 can donation per camper.

2016 Safe Trick-or-Treat

Pike High School's Bussiness Professionals of America will host their annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event this Thursday, October 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pike Freshmen Center. Admission is $1 or 1 canned good per person (including adults).

Congratulate our PHS Boys Basketball team for winning their third consecutive Marion County Championship & support them when they play at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 28.

Superintendent Jones Retirement Celebration & Scholarship Fund

After more than 13 years of serving as the leader of the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, Superintendent Jones will retire this December. The Pike Township Educational Foundation has established a scholarship to honor Superintendent Jones and we are in the process of collecting well wishes and cards/notes of appreciation.

The students in our Pike High School Astronomical Society will present a special planetarium show on Wednesday, November 16. 

Pike Youth Performing Arts - After School Program

The afterschool performing arts program – Pike Youth Performing Arts is back!  This is the second year for the program.  It has been renamed and enhanced. This new and improved program will begin on January 24 and end on February 28 with a performance for family and friends.  All classes are on Tuesday nights!  Enrollment forms have been delivered to all Pike elementary and middle schools!  Visit the Pike Performing Arts Center website to access the enrollment forms (English & Spanish).
